Why did you choose the a Villa wedding in Malta
We knew we wanted to go abroad for our wedding and started looking at venues all over. We both love Game of Thrones (GoT) and we were feeling the vibes from this villa (later to realise parts of GoT were filmed in Valetta!). We had seen several weddings taking place in Santorini and Ibiza but hadn’t heard of anyone having one in Malta so with the combination of the beautiful GoT style old building and the originality of the location we knew we wanted this venue.
We visited the year before our wedding just to make sure we were 100% happy with the location and pictures do not do this place justice, we only fell more in love with the place.
I was really lucky with my dress, I found it on my first shopping trip in the first store! I tried on around 10 dresses in completely different styles but when I tried the dress I bought on I didn’t want to take it off. It was one of the first times I’ve ever felt completely comfortable in my own skin. I am not very girly and hated the idea of having to try on all these frilly over the top dresses but my dress complimented my figure and to me wasn’t over the top. It was a Lillian West dress – their dresses are boho-inspired.
My dress was made with lots of lace and pearls so I skipped a lot of jewellery. My head piece was an Alberta Ferretti design from Mia Sposa, it was lace and pearls to complement my dress. My shoes were actually from Amazon for only £12, they were a sparkly gold sandal. My bridesmaids had the silver version of these.
The Grooms Suit
The groom wore royal blue Ted Baker trousers and waistcoat with a white shirt and a peach paisley tie.
The Grooms suit was purchased as was the best man and my brothers. We kept with the chilled boho vibe and went with a waistcoat, shirt, tie and chinos. We personalised the cufflinks with the Maltese cross.
I’m not really into flowers but I like bright colours, I picked yellow sunflowers with a hint of blue. The blue was to tie in with the backdrops/bridesmaid dresses and I just felt the sunflowers were bright and cheery.
Our wedding cake was 2 tiered, all chocolate as who doesn’t love chocolate?! We had a DJ as entertainment and partied the night away.
Happily Ever After
Your favourite memory
My ultimate best memory of the evening was a dance off to the YMCA. My brother and Ben’s brothers decided to gather round in a circle and start a dance off. Everyone was dancing and laughing, it was such a funny/happy time.
Do your research. Find out how long you have to be in a country before the wedding. Find out if a notary is required or if you just need a solicitor to witness and stamp paperwork. Also look into the cost of the legal work.
